WWD China on Saturday hosted a fashion gala during the 2024 edition of the World Design Cities Conference in Shanghai, which was hosted by the city and co-organized by UNESCO.
Titled “60 x 60 Designers and Muses,” the gala featured a runway show that paired 60 designers with their muses, brought together by WWD China. Popular Chinese designer brands, including Pronounce, Chen Peng, Ruohan, Susan Fang and Xu Zhi, all presented looks during the showcase.
All of the designers are a part of the Global Sustainable Fashion Designers Alliance, or Green Design Force, which has expanded to include 120 designers and which will debut in Europe soon. The alliance serves as a gateway for international designers entering the Chinese market and fosters collaboration between Eastern and Western creators.

“The second Shanghai Gala is more than just a reunion of WWD’s creative community; it’s a homecoming where designers and muses reconnect, merging inspiration with creation,” said Johannes Neubacher, WWD China’s chief content officer.
The gala was part of WWD China’s five-year anniversary celebration, which began with the launch of China’s “Heritage Next” exhibition at La Samaritaine in Paris.
After the Paris showcase, the exhibition landed in Shanghai on Friday during the WDCC. Bridging creativity, craftsmanship and innovation, the exhibition offered a unique tale of two cities and their shared artistic legacy.
